My male betta, Calcifer, recently got moved to a different tank. While I intended to get a Minibow, Petsmart was sold out, so I got a 2 gallon Topfin aquarium, which is .5 gallons smaller. But my old tank had an odd shape, so ultimately there is more swimming room in here.

Anyway, it came with a bubble and a light, both of which I set up. I put some crushed white gravel and two plants in there, along with his fake driftwood. As soon as he got there, he sat under the driftwood and absolutely refused to eat. I gave him a pellet and he chewed it, but then he spit it out. I gave him some mosquito larvae yesterday and he ate it, but today I gave him some and he refused to eat it. Could it be that he's just not hungry? Because all he does is sits at the bottom. He barely ever goes up to breath, and when he does, he just goes back down. Is something wrong?

almost all bettas are drama queens and will sulk at the slightest provocation. however i WOULDD turn the bubbles off. there's no reason to have them and in such a small tank, and although the bubbles may not reach him, the current probably does.

just keep offering him food. eventually he'll get over himself and eat again.

When you say crushed white gravel, it's not calcium chips or anything is it? They can increase the pH which could be upsetting him. Other than that, my boy Cubed did not like his new tank at all. He went mopey and clamped his fins and just lay on the bottom. I eventually moved him back to his old tank and he's on the mend. Keep persevering, if there's nothing visibly wrong with him he might just be adjusting. Hope he feels better soon!
