my tank has just completed cycleing...

However half way through the cycle just as the nitrIte was spikeing i noteised my ph start to fall... this was around the same time as i added 2 pieces of mopanni wood....

some people have told me that the cycling process can make the ph level fall others have said not i`m wondering is it the wood thats caused the ph crash (from 7.1 too 6 or less)

any help please people

Cycling absolutely can drive down the PH. The cycling process itself releases hydrogen ions into the water which will drive down water that isn't well buffered. This is not a theory, it's a fact. Mopani has very limited affect on the water.

What is the GH and KH of your water, that can help explain (or cause further confusion).
