So I have 8 tiger barbs in a 20 gallon, about to be moved to my 36g. I was wondering 3 things:

If I switch conditioners, so my 20g uses top fin conditioner but I want the 36g to use seachem conditioner, is it okay to plop and drop. I am using the same water source and always keep my temperature at 79-80F.

Can I plop and drop tiger barbs, same water source so I don't see how I should worry about that.

Can I drop and plop Cardinal tetras and Emperor tetras?

Reason why I ask this is because I watched three professional fish keepers on youtube talk about how they acclimate and they said plop and drop method.

Can you explain what you mean by "plop and drop," and "drop and plop"? You use both terms and I've never heard either before.

"Acclimate" can be different for different fish. Cardinal tetras for example are more sensitive to changes than Tiger Barbs, but that does not mean to say that the latter will not be affected by whatever. As for conditioners, Seachem's Prime does have issues that Top Fin does not, relative to what each allegedly does.

"Drop & plop" is simple a term used for adding fish to tanks without acclimating at all. Straight from bag or other tank to new tank.

A method I use a lot tbh, acclimitising does little if new fish bought locally, within 30mins, and I add straight to new tank via netting from bag. Very rarely will I add bag to tank to temp match and scooping in a cup of water every 10 mins. IMO waste of time, as long as water parameters and temp is well within the desired limits of said fish species.

However, acclimating is needed if fish have been transported for long periods of time. Or if fish are wild caught and need to adapt to ph and/or water hardness. Can be a long and complicated process.

But as already said, of fish are bought within 30 mins to a hour from their old tank to new tank, drop them straight in should be fine as long as parameters and temp is suitable. Moving fish from one tank to another in the same building, drop and plop should be perfectly ok.

Be sure to keep a hand over the net as fish can jump from the net whilst transporting from bag or other tank.
