I did a water change on my tank last night and did a major gravel vac, moving all the decor and cleaning underneath. Just as I was putting in the last bucket of water I caught the brace bar and it broke (juwel rio 300)There was a huge bang and the whole tank shook. I grabbed the back of the tank and held it together while hubby got the spare brace bar and fitted it (lucky I had one!!) I am so lucky the whole tank didnt break. But the tank was full of tiny air bubbles?. I turned up the air pump to try and help disperse the bubbles, but after about an hour some of the fish were lying on the bottom of the tank (angels, gourami). I switched off the lights in the hope they were just stressed. They seem ok this morning but I have found 1 ram dead
, he had a wound on his head, I dont know if he swam into something when the bar broke. the ammonia reading is up a little so I am doing another water change now. I think it could have been realeased from the gravel?.
Apart from monitoring my water stats, and changing the water as necessary is there anything else I could do?
