so i pull this tank back out of the cupboard. it has gravel substrate, black background, thinking of planting it (or trying to plant it, i kill plants. but if no real plants will be silk).

my problem is i have no idea what to stock. what is suitable for this tank and how many. i have tried to do some research but there so much conflicting information.

i know i want some kind of shrimp but that about all i have managed to decide on.

many fish, but plants that are impossible to kill would be great too

OK, are you a beginner to fishkeeping? Or got experience?

Oh yeah, how big is the tank?

i am been running tanks for 2 year, just upgrade my tropical into two 4foot tanks with an aqua bridge joining the, so know about cycling and all that.

the tank one of these, just want something small in the kitchen, make the washing up more enjoyable. lol.

OK, do you want like, the common live bearers, such as guppies and platies, or more bigger fish, such as oscars, or angels?

sorry not being clear, this is for a 35litre for my kitchen. my knowledge on little fish is rubbish.

You could have a Siamese FIghting Fish, and/or some male endlers. Alternatively a shoal of the smallest rasbora species too. Some smaller shrimp species.

I have my avatar fish and his partner and their daughter in a 35l, along with a SFF.

is there a species of gourami that would be ok with a should of some small rasbora.

No gourami would fit in a 35L :good:
I'd suggest a male betta and 3 or 4 endlers :good:

thank you for the help, can't wait to have the tank up and running

Gouramis require bigger tanks than 35l, sorry. Even the dwarf ones.
A few live bearers, such as guppies (males are brighter colours)
And have a few shrimp too.

as for plants there are a few easy to care for things like java fern and amazon swords are relatively easy to keep you could make a coconut cave cave and attach some moss to it cheap to do and doesnt look too bad as for the fish id go for something along the lines of a shoal of tetra (around 8-10) and a type of shrimp ( just pick some that you like) cherries bumblee etc.

SOUND LIKE A PLAN, CAN'T WAIT TO GET THIS GOING. JUST WAITING ON THE HEATER. I HAVE TRIED GROWING THOSE PLANTS BEFORE AND KILLED BOTH WITHIN WEEKS. THINK I MIGHT STICK WITH THE SILK, SAVE THE DISAPPOINTMENT OF KILLING MORE PLANTS FOR SOMEONE ELSE.
