Today I went & picked up a new co2 bottle from my local Pubs gas supplier. I got it on the Pubs account. It is rather large.

My old bottle was a 6kg co2 beverage dispenser bottle & it was only half full when I got it but it has still lasted me 6 months or so. The new one is at least 3 times the size so will probably last for years.

Old bottle on left, new one on right.

The only thing is I am going to have to store the bottle remotely from my tank as there is now way I will fit it in the cupboard. The understairs cupboard is next to the tank so the new bottle will livein there, chained to the wall, with a long length of co2 hose running through the wall to the tank. I will post a picy of the set up when I have completed it.

I am excited as I love building stuff.

Nice one Tom

Was looking to buy a 5kg fe off the bay

Might try and see how much those large pub ones are to rent n refill now

Only publicans i knew have left the area :(

Anyways, hope the re-siting and building goes easy for you

To rent the bottles I think it is £50-£70 deposit then another £20 each time you exchange it. Becuase I got it on an exsisting account it only cost me £20.

Bargain.

Update - The bottle is now in situ under the stairs & is chained to the wall. Good job too as I have read the legend on it & it wieghs 35 kilograms. I will order a long length of co2 proof tubing & as soon as thar arrives then it should be up & running.

Congrats Tom

Could you try and help me ??

If you goto BOC and look at there cylinder weights and size pdf

Could you tell me which size you got ? (maybe measure height etc)

Found a place that does co2 cylinders, £55 first time buy. £40 is for tank ownership £15 first filling/swap

Thereafter just the £15 filling

But the weight they say doesn't seem to match BOC's or Airliquide weight/sizing lol

(then again maybe it's me lol)

Anyways, for £55 i wouldn't mind having to do a few county crossings to get a refill, know someone on the way so could have a tea etc

Cheers

The tank is roughly 27 inches high (not including the valve or carrying handle) & 6 inches wide. It wieghs 35kilograms & containes 14lb of co2 (I had to give the invoice back to my publican but i remember the info).
Remember if you do use a tank this big it MUST be chained to the wall as it will cause injury if it falls on someone. I got a length of small chain & some hooks for about £3 from a local hardware shop.

PM me the wieght sizing they have qouted & I will check that against mine.

Hope this helps

Tom

Edit - Also those price quotes you got will not include VAT.
