I have a tank of mollies. one (female/ full grown) has developed an extremely swollen eye. it almost resembles a door knob. the other is is perferctly fine. her lips are swollen also. this has developed in 2 days. no other fish has symptoms yet. i keep the water up pretty good. 0 ammonia 0 nitrates o nitrites. i change about 20% of the water ever 2 weeks.

55 gallon
80 degrees
9 mollies
1 choc plec (4 inches)
1 striped rafael (4-5 inches)

this is a fish the my daugher "owns" and she can tell the difference.

freaking out,

monte

yeah, i have that med. i dont think she banged her lip. its kinda like the lip on the elephant man. its swollen open and seems she barely has enough room to get a little water through to breathe. i dont have another tank to treat her in, so if i treat, i have to do the whole tank. the other fish seem healthy so far.

Sorry maracyn two as well, any fluffy bits on the lip and does it look red the lip.

Maracyn–Two
Manufacturer: Mardel
A broad-spectrum antibiotic for internal or external gram negative bacterial infections which can even be absorbed through the skin. Effective treatment of fin and tail rot, popeye, gill disease, dropsy (swollen body, protruding scales), septicemia (bleeding or red streaks on the body), secondary and internal infections. Effective even when fish won't eat.
Active ingredient: Mincycline hydrochlor.

I would treat the tank with maracyn two if not got that med go with maracyn one, good luck.

Well, it might be too late. She is now barrel rolling. doing it slow though. I went ahead and treated the tank. just in case someone elsecaught it.
