Aaaaahhh!

So why dont you just run your filter in a bucket of tank water - completely empty the tank, pour boiling water over your gravel, give it a good scrub out, give your plants a rinse and pick off any snails/eggs and put it all back together with fresh water then?

its a 340l tank and RSA is having water shortages so i collect rain water but only for minor water chainges...i think i will get the zebra loaches because i was wanting some anyway will they eat plants and how many would i need(are they schooling)
 
I have zebra loaches - botia striata.
They've cleared up my pest snails, but don't touch the plants at all - best of worlds.

how many is the minimum i should keep together
d i need to change to sand substraight i have small smooth pebbles(smaller than a pea)
