i just assembled an aa aquarium/fish r fun 9w internal uv sterilizer and have a question.

should the outtake tube be out of the water or in the water? right now, i have the hole where the water comes out just above the water line. also, it's pumping water but not very strongly. is this supposed to be how it is?

I don't think it matters if the pipe is out of the water or submerged. Mine is submerged.

As long as the pump and UV section is under the surface that should be all that matters.

The water should trickle out, as the way the U works is that they only put a small pump on it so that the water moves slowly through the lamp section. If it was like the internal filter the water wouldn't be in contact with the light for long enough to have any effect on it.

A little like if you move your hand over a candle fast, it feels warm but doesn't hurt, but if you move it very slowly over it M*****F***** OUch57??@*** WHERES THE WATER (I'll have to stop testing these examples out) lol

Good little sterilisers. I have had mine on 24/7 since Christmas and the water is always clear. Every 2 or 3 weeks I take the whole unit out and fill the sink up and run it in the clear tap water for half an hour to clear any gunk out of it.

Only bad thing is the replacement lamps are bought already fitted in the plastic case and cost nearly as much as the original steriliser did.
