A Walstad Tank...

The only real benefit of soil is that it gives an ammonia/CO2 boost right off the bat to get your plants growing really well. I have three Walstad tanks running right now with straight sand, and they're doing great.

Looks like the tank had a decent run though.

Hm, I have three of my own at the moment, and I occasionally help the Badgerling with her two. Probably going to tear down the 10g soon and merge it with the 55.
