a tangunyikan question

I have some Mbuna that are small in my 29 gallon untill I can figure out what to do with them. I didnt want to get rid of them because I had one that i liked named Cheese Cake, but poor CC doesnt look well, and its stomach is inward, and it doesnt seem to eat, so if CC dies, I will be getting rid of the others, only like 3 total, and getting some Tangunyikan Cichlids.

I was wondering what are the best types for a 29 gallon? I should have gotten Tangs at first, as they are my favorite kind, and an artical I read got me back to wanting some. I know my lfs is expensive, so I may not be able to get julies, so other suggestions apart from those would be greatly appreciated!

You could have shell dwellers like multis or like my ocellatus, brichardi, julies, or maybe leleupi. Those are just a few.

I do like brichardi, and the lfs does sell them at a nic price as well.

How do you sex them so I can get a pair?

IDK but Freshmike had to get rid of all but one because his were breeding like mad and were taking over his tank.

I think the best way is get a few and let them pair and then get rid of the rest.

Brichardi would take over the tank for sure though, so you'd need to keep them as just the pair.

Any small rock dweller and most shellies can be considered - some juli's, leleupi, caudopunctatus, hequi, vittatus dwarf Altolamprologus are all good choices.
