i have just 5 hours left to say goodbye to my dear oscars and its so hard. im tearful and have such a lump in my throat. who'd have thought id get so upset over two fish i never wanted in the first place?

i just hope their new home will treat them as well as we have though.

as tough as it is we have had to downsize. and yeah. who were the biggest? :(

sorry about that at least you know whilst you had them they where happy
scot

due to so much going on in life, we just had too many tanks too cope with, the poor fish were being neglected in my eyes. my mother in law is dying from cancer and we are trying to spend as much time at the palliative home with her as we can, we have money problems and the only solution it seems was to cut down on some tanks. the elec bill alone is huge. getting rid of the oscars and the large catfish means we can fit the contents of 5 other tanks in the large tank. then these 5 tanks can be sold and boy could we use the money for christmas presents for the kids. we also need the room.
we had at the middle of the year 12 tanks up and running, it cost a fortune. we are hoping to get down to just 3. its hard saying goodbye, but we got them back to full health, now their journey will continue with someone else :(
god its hard.

good luck with everthing spish hope it turns out ok for you sorry to hear about your mother in law
best wishes and regards scot :)

aww spish, im sure youve done the right thing, i know its tough but just think those fish would be dead if it wasnt for your love and devotion to them whilst you had them, and im sure they`ll live long and happy lives thanks to you

well the man has been and gone - empty handed.

due to a big mix up he couldnt take them, so they are still with me. im relieved in a way but sad we have been mucked around.
the search continues for a new home, but by god i'll be spending every spare moment i have saying long goodbyes to these pair.

I'm really sorry to hear all of this Spishkey! I really hope you find good homes for all of your fish..... it must be very hard to do.

.... at such a loss for words. It is really admirable that you are doing the best thing for your fish and letting them go when it is absolutely necessary.

awww so sorry to hear your story, we had a similar decision last year and had to downsize from 7 tanks to 1 including re-homing my Oscar, it was totally heartbreaking but I was glad to see that he was going to a good home where he could have all the love and attention that he needed and I felt I couldn't provide at that time. So I totally know how your feeling. My thoughts are with you and your family
