A Quick Word Of Warning About Aquamas.

Well the cylinder weighs about 1.45Kg and the valve is around 230g. When i put the cylinder on the scales i get 2.7Kg. So its full of something!

Dave did you buy a new bottle? Was there any problem with finding matching threads? or did you just get it the original bottle refilled?

High pressure gas cylinders are substantial lumps of metal, so yours will contain considerably less than 2kg of CO2. I am going to guess that your cylinder is fairly empty.

Dave.

Ive got the 500g model. On the cylinder it says the empty weight of it is 1.48kg and the valve is 220g. When i put the cylinder on scales i get 2.6Kg!

Ah, my apologies. Perhaps it is just good old unlucky no CO2 me.

I ordered the 500g system to so hopefully i'll be lucky and get a full tank although i wouldn't be surprised if i get an empty one, my tanks gone from one disaster to another :-( .

I know what you mean Afro, my Iwagumi has been delayed by one problem after another. By the way, Aquamas and JBL use standard sized fittings that will fit UK CO2 cylinders. The Yellow Pages are your friend for CO2.

Dave.

Lets hope that it was Dave that got unlucky and everyone else is lucky! If you ordered the same one as me, i would think you would get CO2. Lets hope anyway!

I ordered the 2kg one too.

Dave,

Are you updating your pre-journal ?
I was hoping you would show the rest of the Co2 setup in pics

If you do maybe you should consider sending the whole thing to PFK, as while they discuss the gear, they never show how it should be set up.

Now, have you weighed your Aquamas cylinder ?
;)

Peter

I am totally buried at work at the moment. I will get pics of the set up as soon as I can, maybe next Monday. I have got the tank planted with HC and a few bunches of fast growing stems from my 120l EI tank chucked in, all pearling nicely, but it ain`t a pretty sight at the moment. I may post a picture to show how much of a crappy looking tank you have to put up with before you achieve the final goal.

Don't tempt me, or I'll post my algae collection

Just had word from Aquamas, though it was a one word reply.
They say the cylinders should arrive full of Co2, so it might be worth having a word considering your wrong hose fittings as well ?

Peter

Well, what a disaster. I have just got home to a second empty CO2 cylinder. It turns out my pressure regulator is knackered. This tank is starting to get on my nerves big time. It has just been one problem after another.

Dave.
