hi! just so happy to find this betta forum. i am new to betta ownership. i am just learning about cycling as i got a baby biOrb tank and am loving it as i hope my blue male, Peaceful, is loving it too. he seems happy and just zooming around. finally getting comfortable with his new home.

i may upgrade the gals into biOrbs as well but time will tell.

anyway, i am looking forward to learning and sharing with all of you here and hope to become better educated at owning bettas. as much as i would love to buy more, i am sticking close with Peaceful, Isabel, and Pearl. they are all lovely.

too bad my cat doesn't think highly of them. he's been with me 14 years and well, he gets jealous when i spend time with my new beloved pets.

thank you everyone.....

allie, can you believe i drove to texas from dc and took all my bettas with me. they all did fine. they visited houston and brownsville, texas. we drove through virginia, north and south carolina, georgia, alabama, mississipi, louisiana, and finally texas.

oh i am definitely here to learn.......

and hopefully one day contribute to help others who are beginning or thinking about owning bettas.

i didn't get any help at the pet store....no one ever told me you couldn't put two of them together. which is how i thought and i ended up putting my first two together, peaceful and isabel (boy and girl), and then i did some more research on the internet and discovered shockingly that these bettas were called 'siamese fighting fish' and that they shouldn't be put in a tank together

luckily i had some big vases around that were all glass; washed them out with only water several times and got them ready. the following weekend, i moved them both into 1 gallon tanks since they were babies. now i have 2 2 gallon tanks and 2 1 gallon tanks and a biOrb that i really like.

so each girl is in a 2 gal tank on their own. and peaceful got the biOrb that is next to my bed now.

i am tempted to go back to iKea today and get some aquatic plants that they had on sale. i also saw some bulbs in the pet store. my little girl, Pearl, got one of the bulbs in her tank and although she swims around it, she doesn't really eat it. i thought they would take little nibbles of these aquatic plants - am i wrong?

-_-

Welcome to the forum we have some great people here.

I have plants in all of my bowls and tanks my fish don't bother any of them. When I get a new fish they will taste the plants and decided they aren't really all that good. When you look for aquatic plants get the low light ones, and get ones that don't need to be planted but tied to a rock or ornament like java ferns.
