Does anyone know if female bettas eat small snails?

Because before Saturday I had an INFESTATION of little ramshorn and bladder/pouch snails. Seriously loads of them. And since I've had these females I can only see about 3 snails right now . I haven't added any snail treatments to the tank ( I have an apple snail in there ) and there are no loaches in there either. The only possible explanation I can see is that these girls have eaten the snails . They did seem pretty ravenous when I got them ( I think with so many in the shop tank perhaps they weren't getting as much to eat as they needed due to competition? )

I'm just a bit baffled and I can't think of any other reason since water stats are all fine ect.

Has anyone else had this happen?

I have heard of girls eating snails! bettas like meatier foods!

yeah alot of bettas will eat the little snails

Really? Good grief I thought I was going mad for a moment I have tried them on (very small ) cut up earthworm and that went down a storm. Duncan likes that as well.

I never expected them to decimate the snail population in such a short space of time ! It's good though because they were a real pest. Splendid stuff. My very own snail control

as long as the pest snail arnt too big for tham to choke on they eat them up, my females even ate my mystry snails.... i thought i was doing somthing wrong cause i kept comeing up with empty snail shells, till i watched them gang up and hunt one down! sucked it right oputa its shell and that was the end of it, i tryed to fish it out but it wouldndt go backi in its shell....baa i got mean bettas
