as you know right now I have a 3 gallon aquarium with a filter but no heater yet, so I'm wondering if I still have to do a water change? If so, how much of a water change?

Id do 25% changes about three times a week. if you dont have a gravel vac or a hose then use a very clean cup to scoop the water out into a bucket and then refill with fresh dechlor water.

There are a couple of people on this forum who don't use heaters but a water change is probably the most important thing you can do to prevent disease and infection.

As for how much of a water change you should do, reading around i think the minimum is 20% and maximum is 50%, but most people do between 20-30%.

In such a small tank I'd say no less than 50% And twice a week too.

to make it a little easier to answer, when I got the aquarium brand new, I put in 7mm in there. and its regular Betta Conditioner.

I would do 50% twice a week in an aquarium of that size.
You need to get a heater btw.
