I saw one of your posts and the wood fixture that is in your sig is just so much better than the ones sold at petsmart, ect... Was wondering if you used real wood and just cleaned it or did you buy it somewhere? Would love to know, nice aquarium btw.

i stole my drift wood frome a lake out in colorado. look for it in the picture section the post is by Cat.fish.

:dunno: HTH

So you mean any old drift wood is ok? How do you make it acceptable for the aquarium? Also where is the picture section? :(

I presume by monster keeper you mean me

All the wood in my tanks has been bought, whenever i see a nice piece in a fish store i buy it, some of those pieces would have cost over £90 (about $170). You can use driftwood found in nature but you must be sure that the source you are collecting from is free of any pollution and that the wood is safe to use, any pollution that is present will have soaked into the wood and will be released into your tank. Also the type of wood is importent, generally hardwoods like Beech and Oak are fine but soft woods should be avoided as many of these contain high levels of turpentine within their sap.
