He's got some GREAT colors! And attitude too!
Came right over to me!

I, of course, had to make room for Ralph, so I gave up my 4 groumi's to a friend, and now Ralph seems right at home with his other tank mates... 16 cardnals, 5 glowlights, 3 SAE's and 1 slightly 'dumb' little bala :)

They all seem to get along wonderfully!!!
EI is working well, and even with the wrong lights, the green water is almost gone!
The new lights should be in next week however, and all should be awesome!

I also have some plants coming in!
Ive admired GF's Sagittaria platyphylla right from the start, so i have 20 of em coming in the mail, along with 1 Bolbitus heudelotii from AquariumPlants.com.
So some moving around of plants is coming up... replacing some of the fast growers i started out with to get things going in my tank....

All this is starting to fall into place due to folks like YOU!
So thankyou all for your words of wisdom!

.... Ill bet Ralph will like some bloodworms for a treat once n awhile, huh? B)

Thanks!
Ya.. ive never seen one like that either..
My only goal was to find one with some red in it...
This little guy was the most active in the tank... curious george type.. ;)

Now looking at him closer, i really wonder if he's not just a younger version of gf's discus?

I have no idea of what 'type/name' he is, but i just pulled up a pic of gf's and laid it next to mine, and damn.. they are close...
mine just might be abit younger...

hey gf... is this your fish? heh

Having kept fish for over 7 years, accumulating 5 tanks, including 1 salt, then quitting the hobby, only to start again 10 years later... im very proud to own such a fish as well B)

Deff a cool fish :)

Beautiful! Good luck man, and glad the tank is coming along well.

Nice fish Walt. Nearly as nice as mine

Ralf looks a different var. to me - Digweed is a Red Marlboro. How big is he? I think he maybe a little smaller than Digweed judging by his off-circle shape (or that could be breeding).

Do you intend buying more eventually. I'm trying to convince the missus we need a bigger tank (I'm talking >100G!).

Your tank looks great too BTW.

Digweed

Hey gf,

Ya, im thinking about maybe giving him a buddy....
While he started off curious n cruising around, the next day, he was hiding in the corner... and now its been 2 days, and he still wont come out n play....
I also dont think he has eaten anything, and its got me worried...
Course he could be scurring around in the middle of the night n be fiding some food on the bottom....
Either way, he's deff not eating when i feed everyone else...

What cha all think? How many days without eating can he go?
Maybe im just worring about nothing, and when he gets hungry enough, he'll come eat...
then again.... :/

Discus are notoriously fussy eaters, especially when first introduced. I've heard of fish going 6 weeks without problem so don't worry yet. Have you offered frozen foods i.e. bloodworm, brineshrimp etc?

Being alone won't help either, juveniles (and adults to a lesser degree) prefer the security of a shoal and this will help eating habits.

I was very lucky to have such a greedy fish, he was eating out of my hand from Day 1.

Welp no sooner was i worried, then he came outta hiding :)
Not eating from my hand yet, but when he finally came out to play, i fed the cardnals, then with another pinch in my fingers, put my hand underwater right above his head and let go....
The pieces fell all around him, and he started to chow down!!

Over the next few hours he started to cruise the tank.. proud as a peacock! Digging around in the substrate, looking for any forgotten snacks... Looks like he's gonna be OK ;)

I later fed him some bloodworms, and he dug em!!
His colors actually got brighter over the next hour or so...

You Go Buddy!

Glad to hear he's ok! Looking forward to more pics.
