As some of you may know, I spent the month of May in Fairmont, West Virginia and NYC. Did performing, saw the sites, had some vocal coaching (like a voice lesson), and had a great time. My mom and sister took care of my ADA tank and my bettas while I was away. I told them to turn the light on in Endor, as there were still plants in it, not a lot, but some. While they did well with my bettas and the ADA tank, they forgot to turn on the lights in the 36g, which is still waiting to be dismantled, so what is left of "Endor" went without light for a month. Honestly, when I turned on the lights today, I expected nothing.

This is what I found...

I can't believe there is green in this tank. Even Fissidens and pelia have survived the month without light. A lot of these plants, given a good clean, are salvageable. Needless to say, I hooked up the fixture and the tank lights are now on, though for a very limited time. May dismantle the tank and redo it.

I think there is something special in your water! Even those look pretty healthy

Heartbreaking and hopeful, all in the same glance! Glad your fish are OK!

Can I borrow some of your luck please :)

wow, they look really healthy! Get them in the ADA!

Thanks all. I don't think I have anything special in my water. It's probably the mulm in the tank that's keeping them alive. Love an expert to comment on this, as it really has changed my perception on how much light is enough light. There is new growth...

Oh no, this tank didn't have any fish in it. The livestock are in my current setup.

Ian, there really isn't anymore room in my ADA tank. Only for a moss wall. I have to clean up the tub outside and put most of the plants in there. I may try to salvage the fissidens inside my house. It's pretty sad, but it's growing. It just has a lot of debris.

The moss in the betta bowl also faired pretty well during my month away.

Just talking about the other fish your mom and sister were looking after.

leave the moss wall, it looks better without! :good: It looks more like an prize winning aquascape without, obviously it's your tank and you have to look at it lol.

Actually, one of the fish in the ADA jumped ship early in the month, and I lost a betta to jumping as well. But otherwise, everybody's ok.

Ian, can't you see those little white sponges in my scape? The moss covers the sponges. You know we'll have to have a poll, right? In fact...

yeah, but to be honest i didn't notice the sponges, because my eyes arn't drawn to them because of the scape. Lets poll it!

Polled... :shifty:

We are, by the way, soooo off-topic...

Can't believe these plants survived a month without light, that's insane.
