A Mark Of Some Sort On My Cichlid ?

As I was doing my daily check on all my fish .. making sure everything was ok and no signs of anything wrong, I noticed a small red mark sort of on its gill, im not really sure what it is or how the fish got it but it wasnt there yesterday night when I checked fish before I went to bed so its something that has happened over night possibly.

I just want to make sure its not any sort of infection and what to do about it ? I have also done a water test and everything is fine.

I have tried to post the best picture I can get at the moment as the fish was not co-operating very well

Just been looking up over the net loads of ppl are seying its egg spots.

Preface: I have absolutely no experience with either Ich, or Chichlids.

...but since you have already taken a few minutes to consider the counsel of the Google gods, I offer that i found this while doing the same:

When searching for: "If cichlids have spots that look like eggs on their gills what could this be?"
I was directed to wiki.answers.com for the "best answer": "This could be "Ich" or any other kind of fish disease."

This is the opinion of a completely unknown contributor and thus must be considered carefully prior to response... However, since its implications are quite strong, I felt that it would be irresponsible not to let you know what I found.

Hi, thanks for all the replies but I am not on about the little yellow/whiteish spots they are little sparkles that the fish have I am on about the little red cut that is right by the little dots, It looks like some kind of tiny cut and seeing as the fish is in with one other same type of cichlid and one other big one I thought maybe it could be a cut but I just need a bit of help to work out if its a cut or some sort of disease as I would like to get it treated if I need to, Thanks

Are the little dots yellow in colour?
Any signs of darting, erratic swimming, flicking and rubbing, laboured breathing?

The yellow dots are just the regular colour of the fish, they are like little sparkles, my other cichlid of the same type has it aswell theyre just showing up more as the light was on and I caught it at an angle on the picture.

The smaller cichlids (one in the picture) tend to dart around abit at times but that is because the other slightly bigger cichlid sort of chases them out his corner of the tank but that is about it. No flicking or rubbing and the breathing is all ok.

Could just be a small cut as I thought before but not sure.

I would maybe dab the wound with methylene blue to stop infection.
