two days ago I bought four wonderful platies one male and three females. I had doubts that the female may be pregnant as two of them were fat and round the male was slim. so I put the females in the delivery tank and they seem okay and I put the male in the community tank. I don't know it seemed dizzy but few minutes later it started to swim. yesteday I found it laying at the bottom. it seemed dead so I got the net to throw it but it moved . it seemed to confine to itself in between the stones. I had a guppy which acted similarly before and now she is okay. was the male platy being shy? some one told me to add a female to attract him I did but still he lay in between the rocks and today he died. then the female began to act just like the male is it because it is one of its kind in a communtiy tank I tansferred her to the delivery tank with the other pregnant platies for fear of dying. can anyone please help? my tank is sixteen gallons with eight cories and and nine guppies

hi,
sorry for the loss of your fish, its so hard when you dont know why these things happen,
i cant tell you what the problem could be, im sure you floted the bag before putting him in main tank,
ive had this happen to guppy but not platy, were they full adult size when you got them? for now if poss test water in both tanks so you know its not a water issue, try not to move them about as stress could kill them they need time to settle down, im sorry i cant be more helpful. let us know how the remaining females are.

is there anything worng about floating the bag? doesn't this help the fish to get adapted to the tank and then I should add some of the water tank to the bad before adding the fish to the tank.
guess what i bought another male and added him with the females in a small delivery tank they are okay it seems that these platies aren't sociable. I don't get it aren't platies supposed to be sociable and active?
