Hey guys, it's been a while since i've posted but i have had coursework and other things to to which got in the way... and that sucks... but i'm back now... and here is a little update on how the tanks are doing...
my 60 litre goes first...
Well, my platys have raised yet another batch of fry which i am rearing in my old 48 litre and they're doing pretty well... theres a deal between me and the cat whereby if ay jump out and are not noticed within 5 seconds they are fair game... he always wins >_<... my 1.5 inch long bristlenose is doing OK... (he's only in there untill i complete my 100 litre overhaul)... i have had an explosion of snails though... which is annoying but they are being kepy under control by a huge army of assasin snails and i have a feeling that my two kuhli loaches (also temp and will get at least two more) are eating some too... but other than that is isn't doing too badly... i have replaced the fluval 3plus in that tank with the elite jetflo100 (480l/h without media, 375l/h with) from my other tank and i am running the elite on a spraybar (media - alternate layers of foam and ceramic rings)... the other filters i have have stayed the same, the tetratec IN300 (300 l/h without media, 244l/h with) (media - 2 small sponges that are forever clogging up and i suppose you could count slime mould in the filter as filtration of a sorts) and a fluval mini (200l/h without media, 153l/h with) (media - foam and then ceramic rings at the top) i have the fluval mini just because it has a fair bit of space for media and it was there and i had spare media... haven't looked back...
Here's a few pictures of the tank as it stands on 17/04/12 at about half six in the evening... picture was taken with a fujifilm finepix S2950...
i think my betta must bea bit wierd in the head as he absolutely loves the current produced by the spraybar... he plays in it a fair bit and other times he will sit at the top of the water behind the spraybar when he's waiting for food... quite an intelligent little fishy
My other 95 litre tank however, has given me the opposite to all the above...
I have been battling with hair algae and snails and no matter how much c02 I injected the algae would not go, so i gave up and removed all the plants with algae on... to be honest i am going to convert it to a black tank following the sucess of my other one and hope to make it a snail free tank apart from the ones i put in there... oh yeah... the apple snail... came down this morning after seeing that he was a little lethargic yesterday and wasnt eating at all and found water so cloudy you could barely see the fish, a massive ammonia spike and the smell of rotting flesh... i evacuated the fish immediately and drained the tank to the very bottom, and removed the apple snail... gross... the tank is now back up and running once again and al fish are back in seemingly unharmed thank god... the levels are back to 0,0,40 from 2,2,80... here's a picture of it currently...
tell meh what you think...
