A Little Update On Progress

me and algae are going a few rounds right now,so ive added some more fast growers and some more dwarf sag for the foreground...still need some more foreground...algae is starting to turn brown slowly..i will post some stats later

ive got some pretty good growth lately and my plants are usually pearling when i get home...you can see the red plant in front right has grown pretty good..this pic doesnt do it justice..dont know what it is..it came as an extra plant in my order and was some kind of bulb..looked like an avocado pit to me so i threw it in and it just keeps growing..

Thanks Jen..I try..gotta ways to go but this tank is giving me lots of experience..i dont wanna give up till i beat up on this algae as payback

Your tank looks cool!

That bulb thingy looks very much like a Nymphaea Maculata, or a Red African Tiger Lotus Lilly, as it is more commonly known. I have a huge one in my tank. I have had the best results with it when I bury the bulb just over half its diameter into the substrate. Mines pearling big time!

thanks sub.42...that could be exactly what it is it was an extra plant in my order..only i purchased a tiger lotus recently seperate from the free bulb and it had no bulb just roots..is this common? i didnt bury anything on mines just let it sit and away it went with the roots just going right into the substrate...its a very nice plant.

ive been dosing trace kent freshwater and stopped recently due to what looks like hair algae.i added about 1ppm of po4 today.should i up my nitrates or will this help out the algae? i think excess po4 will help algae so i should be okay at about 1.25ppm right? thats pretty much all ive been testing lately since i dont dose iron.should i test for other things?
can someone tell me how big the red tiger lotus will grow in inches?this things growing like crazy..
