Yesterday I went and bought two Acarichthys Heckeli (common name...threadfin acara I do believe)
Does anybody else keep these fish and can someone tell me anything about them,as I can't seem to find alot of information about them.
I have read that they grow to 6" and that they will eat anything.......but thats all I know.
Any help would be great.....Thanks.

chali this is what one of my books ( american cichlids 2 large cichlids by Dr.wolfgang staeck and horst linke) has to say as far as care for them

"this species reqires a large tank of atleast one and a half metres in length."
" the fish need ample hiding placeses that should be created with bog-oak(driftwood) and rock flakes(slate). Planting the aquarium is possible as the fish do not damage the vegetation, but the plants should nver constrain the avalible swimming space. Too bright a lighting causes the fish to be shy and display pale colors."
" Due to their size ( males can reach 20 cm) they require nutritious food in adequate quanities peeled shrimp and crabs are suitable."

I would also like to add that a good cichlid pellet would be an added plus in their diet and that from my reading it looks like they are more closely related to the large eartheaters like jupariri and daemon.
