please could someone help me, my tank water is a little cloudy and was wondering how i could get it crystal clear.
mt tank is 140l with gravel which was washed through before it went in the tank, i also has 2 bits of bogwood in which although was soaked for 2 weeks i think this could be the problem.
the tank has been running for 4 weeks and has had fish in for 1 week. im also running 1 internal and 1 external filter but still have cloudy water
any help would be great thanks

also i have villis in the tank but these are now growing onto the top of the water, can i just cut these back?????

out of the 3 i would say its of a tea stain colour, which would be the bogwood. the question is, how do i get rid of it???? or is that a downside to having bogwood???

well it is a down side<if thats what you think>i happen to prefer the look......Either soak and boil more time the bogwood or just preform waterchanges, it should subside after a couple of months

You can use carbon in the filter to remove the tannins leaking from the bogwood. However what I would do is remove the bogwood for now, put it some kind of basin/container and pour boiling water over it until it is submerged, then leave it overnight. Do this 2 or 3 times and it should reduce the leaking tannins by quite a lot.

thanks for the replies, i think i'll just leave it and hope that it subsides.
i dont really want to take them out as my plecs seem to really like them and to be honest its not to bad.
does anybody know if i can cut/trim back my vallis from the top as if they keep growing at the rate they are at the moment then pretty soon they will block out most of the light getting into the tank???
