A Little Dream Of Mine.

Hey guys,
i have a long lasting love for river fish such as trout gudgeon and other river dwellers my dream has always been to have a aquarium with these fish in, is this possible? i have around a 4ft tank with nothing in it it has a ordinary filter for a tropical aquarium, please can you suggest what to do from here? i would like my tank to look like the bed of a river i have a friend with a rather large lake who said i'm free to take fish from there it would be a great help and i would be truly thankful. Anything you know which may help me would be fantastic. Thank you

ive thought about this idea too but in reality a lot of river fish (uk) get quite big and would need a much bigger tank. fish like bream, perch, trout, pike, chubb, roach etc etc all get big leaving im sure many smaller species but all i could think of was gudgeon, sticklebacks, minnows etc which wont really be ideal....sticklebacks can be very aggressive too.

the tank would need gravel/sand substrate, cool temperature, local river plants and very fast flow and the odd shopping trolley or 2

im not sure you would get the flow right with just a normal filter as it would have to be a constant flow from 1 end to the other without any backflow if you get what i mean.....!

do you know what fish are in the lake?

Yeah i understand the fish could grow quite large but i would be happy to re-home the fish if they get too big for the aquarium.
hmm that is a hard one like you said how to keep a constant flow, not a clue on that one
erm theres all sorts mate im not too sure exactly on his farm he also has a river running through which i forgot to mention but i think its just the lot you'd expect sticklebacks gudgeon bullheads that sort of thing, thanks for the reply mate! i would really like to do this so any ideas let me know
