i was just wondering, my family is trying to talk me into a boxfish and i kno they can be in small spaces like a 30 gallon, but im not sure if i am willing to take a chance with it releasing poions into the tank, what is that chance it would and owuld it be a chance worth taking, ive only done relative research on them but only statistics come up so i wanted to hear from expeirienced people?

i dont think anyone can give you statistics but if it freaks or dies it will nuke your tank, so the question is do you really want to risk all your livestock just for one fish?

You might want to have a look on here before getting a cow/boxfish.

Look at the FAQs on the left and then the bit about tanks sizes.

Cowfish/boxfish grow far larger than people realise. I would not cojnsider housing one in less than 100 gallons and prefferably higher

well ya i didnt know anythign about them really, but im not up to taking a chance with something like that, maybe hwen im rich and have a huge tank then ill get one... ;) thanks guys, there cute but theyd havta b alot cooler for me to take that chance...

Our LFS where we buy corals has a 750 gallon pond with one in it and its huge. I wouldnt even try to put it in my 150 gallon tank. Way too small. You see the teeny tiny ones at fish stores of course in small tanks for sale but they definately need more space in a permanant home.

Also it seems like you are kind of a beginner, and definately shouldnt take the risk with the poisons.
