A journey back to my happy place

After a long time away and merely 'having a fish tank' it's time to turn it around and dive back into a hobby that gives me joy.

55g planted, low tech
Harlequin rasboras, Pleco, Cory's, assassins
Mostly crypts, ludwigia, jungle val (coming back from new tank melt)

I used to go big with ferts and co2 but with 2 under 2 at home, there's just no time for thaf.

Going to go slow and work out my lighting, algae and getting the snails under control.

I have no idea! I've had him 5 years and if I knew I've forgotten. He's 3 or 4 inches though

Say hello to the Kribs! I went in for rams or gourami, but I could not pass up this pair. The rich violet of her belly just captivated me. 6 amano shrimp also in there now.

I'll go back in a few weeks for more schooling fish. Maybe some congo tetras?

Congos need at least 75G to be content; I'd wait and see with those new kribs before adding any more fish, they usually breed prolifically

Good to know. Thank you for the insight. Lfs guy said 6 would work nicely in my tank.

The Kribs have already claimed the cave and are exhibiting breeding behaviour, so I'll definitely give it some time.

Really pretty!!! What kind of plants are those? I'm pretty sure I need those in my new tank
What kind of snails are you having problems with. I'm at the tail end of tackling masses of ramshorn snails
