Good luck mate!

I have just finished a fish-in Cycle and I must say it was rather stressful!

I can't wait to do a fishless cycle in my other tank when I get to set it up :)

Hope you have less stress than I did! Good Luck again! :good:

Just finished my cycle - took under a month - it's worth it in the end though!

Looking at your stats it seems odd that you have nitrites already. Is it the API Master Test Kit you are using? If so I would expect it to be light blue.

Have you tested your tap water? If so post the results of your tap water so we can see what your starting with

No problem all help , advise , querys , rolloking excepted
i test tap water this evening
09/08/09

ph 7.2
nitrites 0.0ppm
nitrates 10ppm
ammonia 0ppm

if you dont mind being mind numbed please could you go back look at my post
titlted .. confused?
might help you out understanding were i am
which might give you a better understanding of where ive been for last month

again as usual
no advise ignored
all information is helpful
all questions answer as best i can

cheer and bye

Ginga

tap water is perfect,

You just need more test data. Normally I would have said that you only need to test for ammonia each day, until it is going from 4ppm to 0ppm in less than 12 hours, but as you already have some nitrite activity I'd keep checking that too.

You're best to do a full set of results each day for a week or so and keep posting them here

lots of patience is needed!

Ok will do i will do test every day next week should be able to post at about 8pm uk time
any other information thats helpful??
if you need anything that might help me on my way just shout il try my best

Ginga

ps .. why do they have to make all the colour so damnd close????

Fishless cycling is so much easier... :)
It is even easier to clone a filter and move that to the new tank...

cloning
is this using a donated filter media

If i could find any body how had a tank local i would be fine

could you use water or media from a pond??
or is that maddness?

Yes pond media works, I used some media from my friends pond to try to speed my cycle up. I put it in after about a week into my fishless cycle (at that point I hadn't seen any change in the levels) The next day the ammonia started to drop - then it took about 3 weeks to finish cycling.

I've no idea if it was due to the pond media but I seem to have had quite a quick cycle compared to others.

You can definitely clone a pond filter in a freshwater tank. Often there is so much media in a pond filter that the bit you would need would never be missed by the donor filter.
