My biology teacher is giving me a tank( not sure if 25 or 30 gallon one) what would be a good set up for it. I simply love angelfish and some tetras. Basically, flashy stuff.

I saw your other post about nemo fish [clownfish] and Ill tell u right now that you wont find FW fish as colorful as a clownfish, or most other SW fish for that matter. But in a 25 gallon, you could have an angelfish and a shoal of neon tetras for sure. They like to be in groups of at least 4 or more. But if you are looking for diversity, along with these, id add a shoal of 3-4 glass catfish as well. They have a tendency of finding a spot, and all hovering in one place one on top of the other, [but not touching]. I like them, but they sure are different. So id add the angel first after cycling [unless it already is, then id just test the water and make sure it is ok] then 2-3 tetras at a time, then 2 of the glass cats at a time, if you choose these. One of any of the shoaling fish at once isnt good for their health because to feel secure, they need to be with others of their own kind.

Don't know about that, peacock gobies would give them a run for their money IMO.

Neither angelfish or glass catfish are ideal for a 25 gallons as they grow larger than people think. An angelfish is only suitable if the tank is at least 18 inches high. Some people have had problems with neons being eaten by angelfish.

If you want colour I'd look up the gouramis. Dwarf gouramis are the most colourful of your options, but can be sensitive to water quality, so I would add those last. Only 1 male (the colourful ones) per tank too as they get aggressive with each other. You can keep a trio (1 male, 2 females). Or a trio of honey gouramis; they look very fetching.

Some of the common livebearers are very colourful, look up the platies which also have the advantage of being quite easy to keep.

no, do not keep angels and neons together or your neons will slowly *disappear* ;)

Neons = Angel food

i disagree u can keep angels in ur tank just not too many at all and neons i dont know much about but u could put any of the fish that i hav in my 30 gallon tank in there they do fine but if u put in guppies they just hav to be big enough almost full grown and u need a small school of them plattys and mollies or swordtails might do good to not sure though
