does the growth of the tropical fishes depends on size, for that matter depth of the tank??

i m asking because, i m having 2 sharks in my tank for 2 yrs and there is very little change in their size. when i got them, they where some were around 3.5 inches , and now after 2 yrs, they measure 4 inches only.. but i hv seen my cousin's, which r in larger tank, have grown to 1 feet in size!!

How big is your tank? Have you got any other fish in there or just the sharks?

If you have a fish that requires a lot of room but you only supply a fraction of that room, they will experience stunting. This is a phenomenon where the fish continues to grow internally but externally it does not. It's very dangerous and, obviously, unhealthy, for the fish.
