i plan to add some tall plants to go at the back of the tank at some point

all comments and advice are welcome

I like the stocking ideas. Also, its best to keep just black mollies and white mollies, as they will produce black fry, white fry & dalmation fry :good: Which is very cool, and the fry you don't like/need, give to lfs, and brreed the fry you keep :D Self efficient. If possible, try not to get orange wag platys [red wag platy crossed with orange platy, then the orange wag fry are bred to breed same every time] as they are very aggresive towards other livebearers compared to the other coloured platys. Why they are aggresive compared to the other platy colour variants, I don't know :S

Love the slate hideaway [far right] it looks wicked! :D

2x Rainbow cichlids
2x Bristlenose pleco
2 x Sewellia lineolata (butterfly loach)
5 x platys
2 x Darf gourami
6 x Julii Corys

That stocking will look great :good:
In my opinion, this tank does and willl look fab! great size, and nice scaping, and great stocking. Tbh though, maybe a few more rocks. And yeah, the plants at the back will look great. Maybe limnophilia?

thank mate i have it like that so when I'm laid on my bed watching the fish when they go in there to hide i can still see them :good: and I'm not a fan of orange fish anyway! just looks like a small gold fish swimming around lol but I'm not sure what platys to go for yet any idears?

Have you thought about Guppy's instead of Platys, there are alot more colour variations???

when I'm next at my LFS ill stand and have a watch to see if i like them as iv only seen pics on the interweb!

I love the simplicty used and the 'active' feel it gives the tank as a whole. I'm seriously concidering re-doing my 180L dempsey tank to something similar, just with my own twist to it. I love how simple and open it looks yet with places to hide and the potential for low growing and taller growing plants here and there.

Well done! :)

I think you have done a nice job with this tank. I like the aquascaping and I like the choice of fish. :good:

thanks mate this is my first tank and I'm well chuffed! :D

thanks im glad you feel that way get some pics up when you do! :good:

i think it needs taller plants...

other than that, great looking tank!

I'm going to get a few more fish in there and then add some plants as I'm going for a natural look :shifty:

Looks good. The only thing you may have problems with is the hillstream loaches as they are not really suited to the average tropical setup as they require a subtropical fast flowing/highly oxygenated river setup. Also those fake ferny plants tend to fall apart especially when fish constantly pick at them (your mollies defo will).

that algae is actually a diatom. feeds off the silicone and is common in new set ups. has little to do with the lighting. just scrape it off and eventually it will go away. keep the lighting up for your plants to do well. (diatoms are virtually guaranteed in brand new tanks!). othe than that, looks great and i like mollies :)
cheers

Best to leave it be IMO as the bristlenoses will make short work of it when they are added to the tank.

thanks for you views above and the info! and as for flow there is a lot as my fluval u4 pushes the water wright around the tank i see the Mollies swim in front of it and they fly to the other side of the tank! so flow is not a problem but oxygen mite be but I'm planning on putting real plants in there so that should help and maybe an air stone to help out as well

on another note

i think one of my Mollies is carrying fry as she is a bit fatter then the black females and the bigger male out of the to seems to stay close to her and has his dorsal fin up most of the time? does this mean they are spawning?
