Hey, so ive had my Neon and Black tetras for a long time now and i am abit bored of them, as i am getting better at fish keeping and learning more and more, i would like to keep some more interesting fish. i have already purchased some Kribs and i love them!i am also very interested in Bolivian Rams, as you can see i am getting into Cichlids, but i dont want malawi's or anything like that, so i was wondering what other community cichlids can i buy? My tank is 90 litres so i think angels are a little out of the question, what do you think?

Also, i cannot catch my Tetras! they shoot around the tank at great speeds when i try to net them, what can i do ?
once i can catch them they will be up for offer in the classified section Free to a good home :) (7 neons and 3 Black)

90l is probably too small for cichlids unless you want to have a shell-dweller species aquarium, if you already have kribs then i really wouldn't put any more in there.

Not Even Rams? i have seen them being kept together before with no problems... and as i siad i know angels are out of the question :p

if you already have kribs i don't think you should have any more in 90l, not even rams, get another tank mate, it's addictive!

I don't think you'd have enough room from rams and kribs in a 90l

Agree with what else has been said, I dont think it would be big enough for the kribs and rams.

Its not a size issue, more of an aggression issue. Even the most peaceful of cichlids are usually more aggressive than most of what you'd call 'standard' freshwater fish, especially when spawning.

I think you could get 2 rams. No more. Oh, and for netting them, don't chase them around the tank, that just causes stress. Instead, try and carefully catch them using timing and wit:)

By the way, I love the way you spelled "Newbie"- "Noobie"

That is so cool!

I would seriously recommend not adding kribs and rams in such a small tank. I've read issues between pairs in tanks 150l+

Try using a larger than usual net for the smaller fish and try to net them when they are swimming along the tank's front glass panel so you have a better view.

As said above, I would look into getting a pair of Bolivian Rams and stop there. If you buy anymore Dwarf Rams you may find yourself watching fish that do nothing but fight for territory.

Yea thanks mark it was bolivian rams i am interested in im not interested in dwarf rams, or german :) once i take my tetras out my only fish will be the 2 kribs and 6 mollies

Definitely don't recommend getting a second species of cichlid. I've kept kribs with other cichlids and they are merciless, even with other 'passive' cichlids. Hell, the kribs attack my female bettas, corys, killifish and swordtails. Only one of the four has mellowed enough to be kept with other similar sized, non cichlid fish.

Obviously it is up to you, though.

Empty the tank of decor to catch the tetras, and perhaps drain a little water out.
