ok i drool every time i see discus but am detered slightly by a couple of things. 1stly the issue of them being delicate. so how delicate would you say compared to a golden nugget? the logic behind this being golden nuggets are supposed to be super delicate/easy to kill and so far touch wood mine is thriving. allbeit very shy!!

2ndly and i rekon this is gonna be the major killer in the idea. i LOVE my red sev vinny . even tho he is super peaceful laid back and docile would it have to be a choice between him or them? everything elsee id be willing to sacrifice for discus but not him no way couldnt do it.

tank is 100ukg

Suprisingly not as delicate as you think. they survive in pretty crap water in the wild, but do need a lot of lookking after to thrive!

I wouldnt mix a sev with them, but i know people who have

so if my golden nugget is thriving then theres no reason i could manage discus then?

assuming then that discus are out of thee question with the sev. what else is out there? im looking for the "wow" factor

ps also has to be safe with corys spectacular/ jaw droppingly coloured and pref mid-level swimmer ( altho that part is not critical )

dont want much do i?

well i'd say they are not hard to keep just for the very fact I've kept mine alive, but you must be willing to put in the hours with the water changes as i'm currently doing 50% a day. Also discus like tempts in there 80's and alot of cories wont like that, so depends which ones you want. personally I wouldn't keep a sev with mine as they can get aggressive and you need to be looking at slow moving peaceful fish. if something is going to go mental at feeding time the discus are unlikely to fight for the food.

but in general if you have the tank capabilities and are willing to do the water changes i'd say go for it as they are amazing fish and very addictive

decided against discus have been readingg up on discus tankmates and they were 1 of the species listed to definately avoid. so that leaves me looking for alternatives. ( not angels got those already) something juat amazing that people look at and go wow!
