Ok, so I come home from school and do a quick check of my tank. I spot a teeny weeny pair of eyes behind a plant  OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHH excitement, my first baby fish!!! :fish: :hyper: So I put the breeding net in, netted the fish I think gave birth to it and put her in, in case she had any more, then I uprooted the fake plant, and put that in too. I then turned to trying to catch the baby, easier said than done, the stupid thing went up between the filter and the glass, so I had to wait for it to come out before I could get it  When I did eventually get it, I put it in the breeding net and it hid in the plant. The other fish ignored it and stayed in the corner, so I figured they'd be ok. -_-
I came back an hour later and the baby was getting a bit brave, and coming out from the plant, but the other fish was still in the corner, so I thought it would be ok.
Another hour later, I went to check on it again. I couldn't see it in the breeding net, I searched for half an hour, then I decided that the other fish must've eaten it, and as she hadn't given birth to any more, I let her out and took the net out!! :X
I went to the loo (I was desperate) and came back to dry off the net. There was a drop of water on the plastic sides of the net, and it was moving. OH MY GOD!!!! The baby is still in there!!!! :stupid: I nearly broke the lid of my tank, trying to get the net back in there and the poor baby back in the water, I'm such a dufus.
The baby seems ok, he/she's swimming around now, hope it survives! :fish: But its a bit good at hiding - I think I'm heading towards a nervous break down, I'm checking it every 5 minutes!! :p

P.S., haven't found any more babies, so goodness knows which of my females gave birth to it, don't know if its a guppy or a swordtail. Is there any way to tell the difference, apart from the obvious - waiting till it gets bigger?¿?

swordtail babies get more colors quicker, guppies get there colors later

Thats a nice exciting nerve racking story...I hope it makes it thorugh good Luck!!! ;)

It's still alive and growing by the second, it looks really healthy, so fingers crossed!
