i have a 95 litre tank set up with a filter, heater and lights, and am just wondering what to put in it!
Will be testing the water soon to make sure it has the best qualities, and definitely not adding ANY fish until everything is perfect, but some advice on what to put in it would be wonderful!
Any help is appreciated

Always hard to advise if you give us no information on your preferences or interests. But here is an idea...

6 cory cats
Pair of Bolivian Rams
10 shoaling tetras - rummy nose or cardinals

Hi anna, Just to check.. you realize a newly purchased filter is just a piece of hardware and doesn't work to maintain fish in an environment until it has been processed into a "biofiter" (we call that "cycling" the filter.) (You may have already been -through- all that though! )

the bolivian rams sound, and look fantastic! thankyou very much :)
also, my filter has been running for about 8 months now, and i replaced the filter when my last fish died, should this be okay? sorry to be irritating, i'm a bit new to all of this!
thanks

i have a 95 litre too this is what im planning on, i know its overstocked but i have a good external filter and will regularly do water changes

6 three striped cory
1 bristlenose plec
6 glowlight tetra
2 golden rams
6 five banded barb

Hi Anna, When did you replace the filter and have there been fish in the tank since then? A new filter can only do mechanical and chemical filtration, not biological filtration, the most important function.

It takes generally a couple of months of knowledgeable action to grow the correct two species of bacteria and determine that any new filter has been correctly transformed into having a biofilter capability. The bacteria must be fed during that time or they will not grow and nothing will have happened.

A good way to get up to speed on this topic to help forumulate questions is to read 3 articles in our Beginners Resource Center: The Nitrogen Cycle, The Fishless Cycle and The Fish-In Cycle.
