8kg Of Marine Salt

How long roughly would it last in a tank of 40 Gallons with 4 - 5 Figure Eights doing a weekly water change of around 50%.

should last a good few weeks, on your first water change mesure how much salt you use then you can work out how long it will last.

Just what I've hear on these forums, people saying 50% weekly water change is a must. Would I get away with every two weeks if I syphon off the crap no and again?

Theres an external and the internal juwel filters that are in the soon to be puffer tank.

Also, when I first get my Figure Eights they will probably be kept in freshwater in the petshop so should I leave them in fresh till they get older and then gradually start adding salt?? Well Im assuming I'll get them small.

With such a small bioload i wouldnt change more than 20% of the water weekly, any more is just unnessesary really.

you can use a skimmer too if you want to lessen the frequency and/or volume of changes. I use a cheap air driven skimmer and keep my tank at about 1.006, it seems to work fine at that sg

cant remember the make of this one, but it was called something like a miniflotor, internal clear air driven tube type. but either way it foams up nicely and takes out a cupful of gunky orangey water every week and a bit
