Well I started saving for my bigger tank, and it got me thinking. Im goign African cichlids, atleast 8 yellow labs, 2 kenyis, and some others(not so sure yet) , and 3 clowns loaches. Im going to be using white sand with driftwood, and live plants, mostly amazon swords. Im going to be using a Emperor 400, and a magnum 350. What you think about my stocking? Will the yellow labs be ok with the kenyis?

The combonation of the Africans and the Clowns is a bad idea; Clown Loaches prefer soft water, Africans prefer hard water. A compromise would make both fish unhappy; I suggest choosing. I think you should go with the Clowns - you have a much greater fish selection in a softwater tank than a hardwater one.

I'd say go with the clowns too...but I'm biased :D

I'd just get New World cichlids (the larger type that can go with clowns) and do that, or just skip the clowns and go crazy on the African :D Sorry, but I'm partial to cichlids myself...

I'd say go with the Africans and skip the live plants and driftwood... Just get lots of rock and make sure you have a good, high pH... Then get your yellow labs, some p. acei, a few rusty cichlids and some p. socolofi or p. saulosi... I don't like kenyis much :p

I have seen many people having loaches and cichlids together. These along with plecs and synodontis catfishes are perfect partners for african cichlids from what I have seen and read.

In a 75G tank a group of 3 clown loaches would be great, or maybe something like a group of 5 synodontis petricola, or if you cant get them, network synos.

Ben :)

Anyone know a good african cichlid website?
This is my pkaned stock
3 clown loaches
6 yellow labs
2 kenyis
and openings for any africans that catch my eye.
And I think instead of a 75 gallon, I think Ill gowith a 85 gallon like my friend has.

No. Yellow Labs like much harder water than Clown Loaches. I'm sorry to say this, but it's one or the other. Clowns and South American Cichlids or Africans.

It all depends what you want to do. With Clown Loaches and S.A. Cichlids you're limited to everything but African Cichlids. With African Cichlids you get... African Cichlids. That's it.

Many opinons and now I dont what to do  One thing is for sure the clown loaches are defintly going into the tank. Another is for certain that some kind of cichlid will go into the tank. I want african but if it cant work thne I cant do it.  If I go south american im going with discus.
