Hi I am sorry I know I post alot.

I like to just confirm with people things I buy as it helps to have a little knowledge (if not alot provided by the users of this site) before entering the Local Fish Shop

What wattage does a 75 Gallon need?

Whether right or wrong the 75 just changed a degree for the first time of owning it ... So looking to create control.

2x 100 watt or a 100 and a 200 would probably be better. One acts as a back up if the other one fails. It is always safer in larger tanks to have 2, if possible.

Thought so ... thanks again.

If I wanted to space the purchases could I purchase the 200 now to make the degree change and later on purchase the 100?

It's very hot right now here I think my air conditioning was just a little too high and it dropped a degree (nothing to worry about I know but I do need a heater anyways)

Dropping a few degree's here and there is no problem, mine fluctuations constantly as it would in the wild :)...You've already got the answers you need here so no need to confirm wattage, just give you a usefull chart.

Model-----L (mm)-----Tank Size
-------------------------------------
25w-------230---------20-25 Litres
50w-------230---------25-60 Litres
100w------310--------100-150 Litres
150w------340--------150-200 Litres
200w------400--------300-400 Litres
250w------440--------400-600 Litres
300w------500--------600-1000 Litres

Yep, it'd be fine to do that. My fish occassionally go through temp changes, sometimes a degree or two...
And i've forgotten to plug the heater back in on my 29 gallon after a water change and the temp dropped to the upper 60's. I ususally plug it back in the next day, when I check over my tanks, feed the fish, etc. I wouldn't worry about a tiny drop in temp :good:

I know about having my temp drop too. I went away for a weekend, came home and my cat had unplugged my powerstrip so nothing was running on my tank. It didnt help that it was in the middle of winter so the temp in my tank dropped to about 65 in about a day. I'm happy I got home when I did and everything turned out to be okay. So as much as keeping a constant temp is good, a degree change here and there isnt really going to hurt anything.
