Hey what up everybody! Very new to the hobbie, I have been reading and studying for about 2 to 4 months. Read some books, check out great message boards like this!

I have just purchased All Glass 75 Gallon tank, with matching Black pine stand and canopy! Glass tops and 48 inch duble strip lights with metal reflector.

I know I will be doing a community tank. However, don't know what my occupants will be, I was thinking all tetras, but a mixture of some barbs and danios will probably be the case.

Still trying to decide on what kind of cycle I will attempted!

When I was younger my mom kept a tank for me and my twin brother when I was younger. When I started doing my research I called her and told her, "I dont remember her doing half the things I have read about". That caused atleast 20 minutes of non stop laughter!

However, I am glad to be here and open for any suggestions!

Hi canarsie11 :D

Welcome to the forum. :hi:

I'll be looking forward to seeing your posts.

Hi there - I have two of the magnum hob filters with bio wheels. I like them very much. there is a lot of information here so check out the pinned topics to get an idea of what members thought was important enough to save. :D

Hello, welcome to the site! Since this is your first tank, it's probably best to stick to the hardy types of tropicals. Danios, barbs, and tetras are all basically easy to care for.

:D That was what I planned to do, I just had some questions about Tiger Barbs with tetras. I also read on some forums that although zebra danio are great cycling fish, they can be aggressive also.

Is this the norm or the exception?

Also, I have read all these things saying, "rule of thumb, so many fish in so much space.

Just give me a estimate. 75 gallon tank, with only tetras, danios and barbs. How many fish I am looking at down the line, when fully cycled and after building my colonies? :D

Probably around 50 fish as those types aren't very big.
:D Really happy about that, should look real cool when I am finish! What do you think about the fishless cycle, which I assume you are doing by your tag!

I really interested in that cause they say you bio filter can be stocked faster, then with a fish cycle.

Also, I was thinking about silk plant to mix in with my plastic ones, how are they?

Hi canarsie11 :)

Don't forget to check out cory cats for the bottom of the tank. :D Here's a link about them:

They are cute and playful fish and just about everyone who has them likes them! They're my favorites.
Do they mix well with the barbs, danios, and tetras? (i assume they do, else you would not suggest them, but I gotta ask!

Corys are peaceful fish. You can get a small group of them and they will be happy.

I've got some new silk plants in my tank. They look a lot better than the plastic type. I'll post some new pictures soon.

Hi canarsie11 :)

Corys get along with any community tank fish. They are peaceful and totally non-aggressive.

They do need to be kept in schools of at least 3, however.
