Tank Size: 75 gallons ( 48x18x21 )
Filter: 2x Eheim Pro2 2028 400gph 5.3x flowrate
Substrate: 60lbs Super Natural Tahitian Moon, 20lbs Super Natural Torpedo Beach ~2.5" deep
Heater: 300w Jager TruTemp internal
Ferts: Tropica Aquacare liquid ferts
Co2: None
Lighting: 48" 32 watt T8
Water Maintenance: 30% WC every Tuesday, once cycle is complete I can see if I need more or less
I wanted a livebearer tank for the side room in my hallway, guppies, swords, platys, mollys. I got the tank and built the stand and are currently starting my fishless cycle as of last week
First things first... the tank itself
The Stingray Stand I put together for it, I forgot to put the doors on for this picture but the filters are behind them in the final product
I had a bag of leftover fine gravel from our Oscar tank, so decided I would use it as a base substrate and put the really fine black sand ontop of it
Put in the three bags of black sand after a quick wash and started filling it up
Sand is in, tank is filled and all the electics are hooked up. Tank is currently cycling, the mature media wasn't able to be added to the tank for a few days, I believe most of it was killed off because when I added enough ammonia for 5ppm my testkit came out green a few days ago, I'll retest tomorrow during my weekly aquarium maintenance
Once the tank is ready I'll add some Amazon swords/Hornwort and other low maint/low light plants.
Suggestions for plant types are welcome, as are stocking levels I know what I want, I'm just having a hard time finding a number on whats overstocking this tank in terms of guppies and plattys. Some of the fry will be saved, some will be fed to my catfish. I do have a breeding cage but with enough Hornwort and other bushy plants I believe I'll let nature take its coarse for most of the fry unless I catch a mother mid birthing
