Hi all,
I thought it was about time I started a journal for my latest tank. It's been going for about 6 weeks now, and i'm quite happy with the progress.

Tech specs: Fluval 3+, 48w interpet lighting, Yeast CO2 (should have pressurized soon), TetraPlant substrate and liquid fertilizer
Stocking: 6 cherry barbs, 4 otos, 4 khuli loaches, 12 ember tetras, 6 cherry shrimp, 1 nerite snail
Planting: Tiger lilies, assorted crypts, anubias nana, narrow leaf java fern

I'm hoping to have a fire extinguisher CO2 system setup, but the FE I won on eBay has yet to arrive and i'm concerned it never will! The khulis and shrimp are my newest additions, and i'm very happy with them - the shrimp have done a great job of cleaning up, and the khulis are fascinating to watch.

Here are a few shots, bear in mind it's a work in progress - need to get a background to hide my wallpaper for a start!

Thats a really nice looking tank- the ribbony driftwood looks different, i ike iit.
looks like jungle vines.

i also like the stage its at now. too much growth and it could look crowded.

the level of aquascaping is really rising on these forums. everyones got a touch of amano fever.

impressed

Crypts are looking nice and lush :) I would consider getting a nice plain background so the wall paper doesn't destract from the plants/layout :)

Yeah, I think i'll get some background friday, as I have a bit of time off. I want to get a foreground plant to continue the gradient effect I have with the assorted crypts, maybe pygmy chain swords - any opinions people? I was also contemplating getting some moss to go over the redmoor wood, maybe taiwan if I can get hold of some.

Thanks for the compliment smaug, I spent ages trying to find the ideal piece of wood, one that would fit the tank well and work with my plans for the scape - worth waiting for!

Those darker reddish crypts...happen to know what kind they are?

love the tank, you have done a great job there :)

I prefer the wood plain, i think a foreground would go better, but IMO the pygmy chain sword is to large, perhaps trying a specie of lilaeopsis will be better as it doesnt get as tall.

Here's a list of the crypts I can remember or identify:
Cryptocoryne wendtii 'Tropica'
Cryptocoryne undulatus 'Brown'
Cryptocoryne diversen
Cryptocoryne costata
Cryptocoryne beckettii "Petchii"

I think the brown one is the wendtii

Thanks aaron, i'll see what foreground plants I can find at Maidenhead Aquatics tomorrow, and will be getting myself a new filter and a background!
