Hi all,I have set up my 7 gallon tank and it is fully ready for fish, but im at a loss at what to put in,it is heated to a temperature to 25-26c with a ph of 7.8.I was thinking a small shoal of small fish and some corys, any suggestions on speicies?

thanks

chris

of course i'm biased but theres always the betta option :good:

But if your dead set against it then theres Scissor tail endlers, Micro rasboras, chilli rasboras, Thick lipped gourami, pygmy cories, neon tetra etc ( although tetra speciese despite being small do like qquite a bit of room to swim) there are also dwarf frogs and shrimps.

Hope i gave you enough options there :)

edit : i suck at spelling

thanks for the reply,I thought about bettas but I don't like the risk that it might kill everything.I like the pygmies, endlers and rasbora though, how many do you think I could have in my tank?

It's very very rare that a betta will kill other fish in a tank, if anything other fish tend to bully and nip them which is the biggest issue due to their long finnage.

As for the endlers and rasbora i would get a larger shoal of either although you may be able to get away with ten of each due to their tiny size.

The pygmies are more of a middle dwelling fish unlike other cories so i would say around 5-6 would be sufficient :good:

7G tank is too small for corys

True, but is ideal for pygmy cories

A singular betta would be fine in there. They have loads of personality; when I got mine I was a bit worried that the tank would look empty with just him in...yet he fills it lol.

Endlers, guppies...etc. Micro Rasboras.

As others have said, some small bottom feeders (such as shrimp or dwarf corys) and a nice shoal (I'd say about 10) of small shoaling fish (like micro rasboras, ember tetras, celestial pearl danios, etc).

have to say that myself and my son have totally fallen for Bronze Cory's, great for the bottom of your tank, so much personality.

Bronze corys reach about 3 inches as adults and are no way suitable for such a small tank. I wouldn't keep them in less than 50-60 litres.

i'd do some combination of shrimp, african dwarf frogs, a snail, and a sparkling gourami (or a female betta).

That's a nice idea :good:

I think the sparkling gouramis tend to to best in small groups (2-3) as they are pretty shy and need friends to tempt them out of hiding.

Thank's everyone for the replies,Do you think I could have 10 rasbora or endlers,2 sparkling gouramis gouramis,5 corys and 1 snail? the filter is this one

I think
5 endlers or rasbora
3 gourami
5 corys
would be about max. i personally wouldnt get a snail they are really messy.

I agree with this. If you want a mix of shoaling fish, gouramis and bottom feeding fish (corys), it's best to have fewer of each.

However, pygmy corys like bigger groups than you can get away with with some other cory species (so I'd recommend 6 as a minimum) and I'd always go to 6 or more for the shoaling fish.

So:

6 shoaling fish (rasboras, etc, make sure to get "micros") or 4 endlers (as you can get away with fewer)
3 sparkling gouramis
6 pygmy corys

I think you can get away with the two extra fish (although stock slowly and use lots of live plants!). That is a lot of fish and doesn't give you any room for development, IMO.
