help, 7 fish have died today. they were well until death. no symptoms.

however, many of my others, guppies danio's mollies and gourami's are bloated. one has clampd fins, they're all eating well, no sticking out scales, no fungus no other signs.

all water perams are fine ph 7.5 nitrates 0.

only recent change has been addition of alot of plants.

i've added a general tonic. but don't know what else to do.

help please

jeanette :-(

What do you feed your fish, and do you tend to over feed them, any live foods in there diet, also what does it look like when they go to the toilet, something is wrong if the fins are clamped.

I feed them flakes, granules, and frozen blood worm, alternating.

i suppose like most women i can be a bit to eager with the food so i do miss meals from time to time. they were ok until this morning.

poo looks fine, like fish poo to me.

only one hass clamped fins at the mo.

all water perams are fine ph 7.5 nitrates 0.

what are the ammonia and nitrIte levels?
saying fine is not helpfull in understanding what is happening in your tank

generaly speaking sudden loss of many fish is a systemic bacterial infection
however ammonia or nitrIte poisoning could also have the same effect.

Post water stats to make sure as wolf as asked for, could the bloodworms of been off causing food poisoning.

blood worms are a rare treat (2 weekly at most), frozen.

nitrite (sorry) 0 and ph 7.5

haven't get amonia test and thats just made me think.

will do water change tonight, just in case, for a start and get kit tomorrow.

any more thoughts?

See why i asked for that many fish to be affected i wondering if the food was off or something.

I would do a water change now if the fins are clamped just to be on the safe side, have you feed the bloodworms today.

i realise that, i'm so grateful for your time and thoughts. i'm careful with what i give them. they also supplement they're diet with the plants of course. i clean out loose bits as soon as possible.

yes blood wprms this evening

Did you sterlise the plants, wondering why they all have bloated up, the one's that died were they bloated before they died.

To loose that many fish and the others have bloated up i would say it was the bloodworms and something is wrong with them, food poisoning, i would throw them all away, try some shelled peas, and i would add a bacterial med to the tank, fingers crossed.

no def not bloodworms. had none for two + weeks. then only today after the others had died.

have just done 20% water change. looking a bit more lively immediately. have upped O2 in put too. Added salt and some general tonic.

any chance they could be constipated? how do you tell?

Sorry thought you meant they had died after eating the bloodworms, they can blow up after bloodworms, i would put it down to poor water quality then, i would get your water tested immediately, good luck.
