I did got some light tubes last night
a question about them

got some sand in there now with red/black shingle at each end.. (looks how i want it to)

got some deco for it as well as an air pump and air wall..

got the lights for it.. i bought 2 types.. 1 daylight and one 1 moon light..

how is it best to do it..? day light 12 hours and moonlight 12 hours?
or nothing of a night as 9pm till 7am.. from 7am till 5pm the day light then moonlight till 9pm??

also bought an air pump and air wall last night

and gonna set it up like a Gears of war war scene. got a few figures to go in

cheers

8 hours of day light, and a few hours of moon light, only whilst you can view the tank, at other times than that it's just a waste as it serves no purpose.

I'd do 12PM-8PM daylight, 7PM-10PM moon light 10PM-12PM no light.

cool many thanks..

how many hours is a minimum of no light as understand they need a "night period"??
thanks

I'd say 12 hours, but you don't want your main lights on for any more than 8 hours anyway.

how do you mean a gears of war scene, is that like post apocalyptic or something?
I bought gears of war, played on it for about 30 seconds and switched it off and took it and swapped for assassin's creed.
Didn't like how much they had emphasised the bloke.
Like, his shoulders were about 30 times wider than the rest of his body!
crap!

each to their own buddy i personally love gears.. but never got into assasins creed..

as mentioned in another post.. would it be a worry with the figures being in the tank.. couple their paint poison the water... do nto wanna risk harming any fish..

yeah it totally depends what they are made out of, and painted with.
Most models and stuff like that are a sort of resin aren't they?
You do need to be careful, yeah.
Nice idea though, i would love to have some mad max carry on in my tank, rusty old cars, and a thunderdome etc, but its just not really practical.

Unless of course, you find out for sure exactly what they are all made of.
Or maybe(if you have the patience) coat each individual piece in a thin layer or aquatic silicone.
This will in effect seal them, and stop anything getting in/out.
Good luck mate.

cheers..
pretty much these..

they are made with a heavy plastic...

yeah it looks like resin, the same stuff my star wars figures used to be made out of when i was a kid.
How tall do they stand?
I bet you can get some really cool effects with some red and black gravel.
Maybe find a piece of old sheed metal and make it rust, or burn it with a blow torch etc etc, and attach it to the outside of your tank for a background.
Or like spray paint the G.O.W Logo onto it or something.
or maybe that checker plate sheet stuff would look cool, very industrial.

okay coool..

does that mean it will be okay for a tanks??

they are 6 inch tall..
i am getting the gear logo red sticker for the outside..
getting a crashed raven..
got sand with red/black gravel either end.
all the wood work is going black..

got some smashed buildings and a skull...
it will get there..

Can you find out the exact material?

BTW love the idea of the gears scene :D just been playing the beta!!!

i shall try cos would love to have them in there...

p.s. i am on beta all the time at the mo...

add me

pete is pistol

just got a 12 kill streek with the mulcher..

anyways back on topic...

i am still thinking of staying tropical due to the cost..
i have a really small tank i am thinking of using for a nemo and dory and small amount of live rock..
but not for a while

i am still thinking of staying tropical due to the cost.. okay that is fair enough.
i have a really small tank i am thinking of using for a nemo and dory and small amount of live rock.. what size would it be? for nemo you would need atleast 120 litres i would say.
for dory probally atleast 400-500 litres.
saltwater fish will need more swimming space than tropicals.
there are some fish that could go in a smaller tank, such as gobys
but not for a while

I will add you later :) off out atm!

Yeah clown fish can have smaller tanks but sadly dory can't. I wanted a full nemo tank! Prob won't happen!

If you go fresh I think it would make a lovely planted tank!
