Hello everyone, thought i'd join after reading the forum for the last 6 weeks. After haveing a Biorb 30ltr (cold water) for the last year i wanted something a bit more and the Biorb worked out an expensive hobby. I have now bought a Tropical tank, cycled it for a month and added my fish over the last few weeks. Its got real plants and a few hiding holes.

Theres a few Tetras neons, X-Ray and another one which krept in by accident, I'm still not sure what he is. He is less that half an inch and has big bright eyes. Theres a Plec, Saw Tail, 2 Cloud minnows and 2 Zebra Danios.

I did read on here that the Elite 15 Stingray filter wasn't the best on the market, however it seems to be doing a good job in the tank.

Anyways heres a few pics, they have been taken on my phone, so foregive the quality.

WELCOME TO TFF :D

You have an excellent tank! Your bettas is fab :)
I would reccommend a few more plants, seen as the previous ones are growing well.

A few people here have that filter, not heard any complaints.

WCM (white cloud minnows) should be a min. of 6, but if you do get the full shoal, your tank may be slightly overstocked.

Also 'saw tail' thats massive, are you sure its that and not a swordtail?

And regarding the plec, do you know what breed it is, if its common, it will eventually grow the length of the tank, so will have to be rehomed, they are also really messy, and will cause an ammonia spike in your filter.

Anyways, any questions that need to be answered just ask! :D

hi thanks for the reply, i was gonna ask about the plants, you think i could get a couple more without it being over crowded?

Yeah about the WCM, i did have a shoal of 6 in my Biorb but lost 4. I wasn't planning on getting any more, they seem to be quite happy with the tetras. I think thats a saw tail, however i got him from the father in law, and he wasn't to sure, after looking through a few books i came to that conclusion. I'll try and get a closer pic later and maybe you could help me out, maybe he is a sword tail, he does have a tail in the shape of a saw  .

The Plec was sold to me as a butterfly plec, with a max length of 5 cms.

6-7 inches :D , but that should be fine anyway.

i have just been having a look round at butterfly plecs and it appears he may be a hillstream loach.

I'll get a pics of him later.

thanks for the advice, and i forgot to mention my bettas is my first post. He's a great looking fish, the only problem is when anyone has a look at the tank he always takes priority from the visitors!

sorry they're not great pics.

looks good
yh takes a hillstream loach/plec they dont like tropical temps so i would take it back and get a pitbull, rubbernose or bn plec

he wa sold to me as a butterfly plec and i was told they are very hardy, however i did some research when i got him home and found he may be a Hillstream, i have read that Hillstreams prefer it cold than warm as a Plec would.
