6 Weeks On..

I still have bizarre readings....Nitrite still between 1.5 and 5.0 on the tanks..this is so frustrating!!

I remember on a naive September afternoon, I thought the worst case scenario was that I'd have fish at the end of October. Well, there's 8 days of October left and I must say its looking unlikely!

Having said that, did a water change last night which got my nitrite down to 0.25ppm, then this mornig there was 0 ammonia and 2 nitrite, so this'll be my first chance to see how much nitrite my tank is actually processing. Hoping for double zeroes tonight but Im trying not to set myself up for disappointment

Keep up hope. We WILL get there in the end!

well..i just dunno now...
some say do waterchanges to calm it all down....then some say waterchanges upset the bacteria!! neither have worked

Afeter this long in the hobby im sure you aware of what the water does in tank and how much bacteria it holds so i would worry too much about a water change

I've done a 30% water change to get the pH down, so hopefully it'll move along.

tbh, it could very well have moved. The colours for 2ppm and 5ppm on the nitrite test look exactly the same to me

i agree...they do for me....i hold them up to the light and compare tubes...if its a lighter shade of bright purple..its a 2.0 if its a darker shade of bright purple its a 5.0...IF it goes purple straight away in the bottom of the tube...its a 5+...there is no difference on the chart here either! x
