6 gallon setup

Because when he swims very fast it looks like tenticvles behind him like a squid lol.

Cute! :D

Unfortunately only a small amount of coral/seashells in your tank will screw up your water params... I learnt this the hard way when I put a few tiny little seashells into my old 5 gallon. I wouldn't risk it... you can get fake coral replicas from most LFSs.
Yeah I took it out. I had it in the tank for a week and the betta seemed fine but I don't want to chance it. Sucks :( Nothing at the lfs looks as nice as that one and can tell they are fake. :(

More worried about the little fish that need things just right since the betta is just a bigger and stronger fish in the first place.

Update. think the betta is settled down now or just given up on chasing the pygmy.

The pygmy move around a lot and up and down the tank and seem to like current. Anyone else notice this?

The oto is pretty calm but everyonce in awhile will swim with the cories. And all the leaves I had that had a bit of algae seemed to be clean already. Hopefully the oto will be ok since not much algae in this tank. To bad i didnt have him when the 3 gallon was setup. he would have gone to lunch on that tank and loved it lol.

Glad to hear everythings settling down.

You can make premade otto-treats very easily:

1. Get a medium sized jar, like a coffee jar or large jam jar. Fill 3/4 with water.
2. Find some large, CLEAN smooth pebbles and give them a rinse just to be sure.
3. Put pebbles in the jar and leave it in a warm sunny spot like a windowsill.

After a while, you'll get a ton of algae on the pebbles. Just take them out and put them in your tank: instant otto snacks!

Awesome. thanks for the info.

Think the gravel i had from my old tank will work?

And just water and sunlight? Don't I need like some flake food to rot in there or anything?

That gravel would be fine.

Yes, if you want to speed up algae growth put some lettuce or flake food in there.

Alright. I have some leftover lettuce so I will throw that in.

Btw. do you know what type of peas betta eat lol? keep hearing people are feeding their bettas peas.

Just normal peas like this:

And shell them, so they're like the ones in the third pod from the left. They're good to help with ... constipation ..... as they clean out the digestive system.

Not all bettas like them, but give it a try.

So I should get fresh one? Not the frozen ones?

Find it strange that they can eat them since they are pretty hard lol.

It wouldn't matter that much, but if you had them both on hand and had to make a choice, I'd say fresh. But if you only have frozen it doesn't matter, just get a glass or something, put some TANK water in it, and swish it around until the pea is defrosted. :)

Yeah, bettas must have metal stomachs... my old one Charlie (R.I.P - 2004) used to thouroughly enjoy nibbling at silk plants!
