K so my 6 gallon setup is almost complete.

I will get a better picture later when the water clears up a bit from the planting I did. I know its not the best aquasacpe but I like it. They didn't have the one plant that I wanted so had to get something different. In the right corner facing it there is some Amazon sword. Next to that going to the right is some plant that I forget the name of. Next to that is a bunch of corckscrew val planted all over . There is one cambomba but its been dieing and not doing well. On top of the cave is some java moss tied by some thread.

The habitants of this tank is of course Mr. Squid (betta)

The and Twins (2 Pygmy cories) The smallest one is named The and the largest one is named Twins.

And finally Sticky (oto)

I wanted 4 pygmy cories but the store only had two :( . I will get two more if the betta doesnt kill them and if all goes ok.

Sticky got his name since he was stuck on the side of a fish when I picked him out.

The setup will hopefully do ok and I added some liquid fertilizer for the plants. waste food for teh cories and the otto for the algae.

Black sand for the substrate (if that is the right word).

behavior of the fish is ok. The fish should be ok since the tank has been cycled for a month almost with the betta. When i added the other fish the betta swam up to them and then looked at them and swam away. I think they will be ok but will see in a couple days. The cories stick together and think will be nice to have at least 2 more. The oto is pretty sneaky. he ws being sort of chased by a curious betta and he went and stuck to a leaf and hid. Betta lost him and was like W T F. lol But betta found him and then swam away later when he was on the side of the tank eating a little dot of algae.

It looks great!

Your Betta is very very pretty. I love the coloring! Cute Oto and Cories too!

nice fish, I think the fish other than the betta might get a little big, but hey, i've been wrong a lot before :D
Well pygmy cories are not hard on the bio if the tank so its said and they only gow up to 3 cm i think which is just a bit over an inch. the oto is of the dwarf kind and wont grow much bigger either. so going by the 1 inch per gallon I thin i will be fine.

Only big fish in there is teh betta.

Anywyas this is what i have gathered from the tons of forums I have read and of course all the posts here.

After watching te tank for a bit i find teh cories seem to be in hyper mode lol.

They like swim very fast all overthe place lol.

Also they are right in the open and thebetta just sits there and does nothing. they where right beside him at one point and he just looked at him. doesnt even flare or anything.

Here are two pictures I took. Both in the dark but one with flash and one without.

Wish I had a better camera.

Wow, it is absolutely gorgeous. I really like the way you planted it!

And once again...gorgeous Betta! I can't get over him!

Awesome set-up! That is one of the coolest tanks I have seen in a long time! Great choice of fish too

I think too often people don't see the potential of a small tank, but you have really gone beyond that, love it

Thanks.

And yeah I like the small tanks. My favourite one is the guy that has the two heads in it like an amazon thing or whatever and that was a small tank. I also looked at a page where thelink was given to me from here that had all theose aqua gardens and someof those small tanks look amazing. I have liquid fertlizer to hope the system boost and hoping that everything growns in nice and lush.

Also wanted to show a closeup of the white thing I put in. i showed it in an other thread but no one said anything and I though it was sort of neat.

I dont know much about coral or if there is fresh water coral but I got this from my friends store for free.

Its not alive or anything and is all hard . i cleaned it and such and got rid of the rock and put this in instead.

As for my tank my betta is starting to get a bit more agreesive toward steh cories. he is chasing them around and nipping. grrrrrr. Those guys are pretty fast but i hope they dont get hurt because really i would take out the betta and get something else before taking the other ones out since i want a tank of a couple fish and not just one. hopefully he settles down. At the beginning he was fine but as they settled in he went nutso.

Who knows. I enjoy having aquariums again and might just get a bigger book case and put the 3 gallon on a shelf if i dont sell it but hoping that everything works out.

That is a very pretty tank.    Nice fish.

Your betta has lovely colours and fins.... but just out of curiosity, why is he called Mr Squid?

Because when he swims very fast it looks like tenticvles behind him like a squid lol.

Those aren't pygmy corys...they are a type of small cory, but they deffinately not pygmy, I have both types of pygmy myself.

Also, that "white thing" you put in looks like a dried piece of coral, thus it will be messing with your PH and releasing lime into the water... not ideal..

I think you are wrong. I did a lot of research into what i wanted for my tank with the help of this forum and went and looked up everything like size, temp of water and such.

These here are exactly what I have.

Thanks for the info on the coral. I dont know if it is big enough to truly cause an issue. Its not like i put a big boulder or my substrate is made of limestone.

I took it out for the meantime though to be careful until i do further reasearch since many sites say it depends on the amount if it and that it can be used as a buffer.

Cute! :D

Unfortunately only a small amount of coral/seashells in your tank will screw up your water params... I learnt this the hard way when I put a few tiny little seashells into my old 5 gallon. I wouldn't risk it... you can get fake coral replicas from most LFSs.
