6/7 Neons Died ; ( Why Did They ?

yeaaa that little #19### (the CAE) swims and hits the other fishs in my tank, but that iv seen iv never seen a death due to him causing injury to other and its funny because when i bought the CAE it was sold under community like u said lol

as for the rocks leaking anything,is there a way to test the water to see if in fact the rocks are leaking? and when i did the ph test it was right in between 6.8 to 7.0 lol dam strip tests lol

im wondering, do adult neons tend to adapt quicker in a new tank compared to there fry stage or is it all the same?

I`m thinking that seeing as it`s only new stock that is affected your existing stock may have acclimatised to the rock. It would probably be expensive to get your water tested for all the possible pollutants, so I would think that the best way of testing would be to remove the rock, change the water and restock

I've read to test the rock that you want to put in an aquarium you put a small amount of vinegar on it,the vinegar being acidic will fizz on the rock if it is porous,if it does fizz you can then deem it unsafe to introduce into the tank.

i did the vinegar test a few days ago before i added some slate to my tank... give it a go and let us know how u get on

Thanks for the vinegar test advice, i did it to all my rocks and none of them sizzled, i tried in all areas too and in questionable spots, such as shiny or brown look spots but nothing....

i re tested my water and again i got the same results as in my first post sept that the nitrate were 40ppm

i think i might give up on the neons and got for guppies lol they look veryy nice ; )
